The Cooperative of the Regrouping of Francophone Organizations of Thunder Bay Inc. opened the new Thunder Bay Francophone Center on Friday, June 2, 2017. Among the hundred or so guests present, many donors who contributed financially and/or through their work to the renovation of the community hall attended the ceremony.
« It is a great joy for me to see that the Francophone community is flourishing day by day,” said President Claudette Gleeson. The opening of the Center francophone, made possible thanks to the work and investment of our volunteers, donors, and provincial and federal funders, is an immense source of pride for all those who participated in the realization of the project. »
During the evening, the foyer of the community hall was unveiled bearing plaques engraved with the names of donors of more than $400. Members of the Board of Directors of ROFTB Inc. surprised the President by announcing that the community hall would henceforth bear her name, in tribute to her exemplary dedication to the cause of the Francophone community of Northwestern Ontario. The conference room was named after Mrs. Gleeson’s predecessor, Mrs. Denyse Culligan, who still works for the cooperative as a volunteer.
